I had a lovely time photographing Will and Louise’s wedding a couple of weeks ago, with Claudia Carter joining me as second-shooter. Louise and Will both got ready at Houston House Hotel, where Louise relaxed with some bubbly, but Will still had some work to do preparing the reception room for later.
The weather was perfect all day, and the ceremony took place at the beautiful Kirk of Calder. Returning to the hotel, group shots and a relaxed portrait session took place in the beautiful grounds where the leaves were turning a lovely autumnal colour.
After their meal and speeches, a nervous Will and Louise started off the evening in style with a great first dance (after a quick dress rehearsal, before the guests entered the room, literally, to check they could dance with Louise in her dress!) to music by the excellent band, Corra. It was a pleasure to be part of their day!

I was very much looking forward to Ali and Rich’s wedding at Mavis Hall Park in Humbie near Edinburgh. Mavis Hall is one of my favourite venues and allows for such wonderful weddings!
I joined Ali for her bridal preparations at the Apex Hotel on Waterloo Place in the centre of Edinburgh. The atmosphere was lovely and relaxed, and I was pleased to find everyone listening to BBC 6Music (my favourite radio station!).
The Red Bus took guests from the hotel to Mavis Hall, where the talented and lovely Claudia Carter of Carter Imaging (my second-shooter for the day) was ready and waiting to capture their arrival.
The sun stayed out for the very personal and beautiful Humanist ceremony by the loch, and we managed to fit in gorgeous portraits in the woods before the rain came on. You would never wish for rain on a wedding day but I can’t help but like the sight of guests huddled under umbrellas! Luckily the heavens didn’t fully open until everyone was back at the barn for the meal.
Speeches were aplenty at this wedding; bride, dad, step-dad, groom, best man and groom’s dad all made lovely speeches, and a lovely buffet including paella was enjoyed by all the guests. Evening guests made their way through the rain to join the fun ceilidh by This’tle Do. This was a beautiful wedding, filled with lots of perfect little details that Ali and Rich had organised themselves, and with lots of lovely people!

Look at these fantastic Wedding Tea Towels that Ali and Rich sent to guests as their invitations!

Ali’s sister, Kate, checks out her new Diana+ camera. Would love to see the results she got!
